Isotroin 5 mg Capsule is a naturally occurring derivative of vitamin A and is used for the treatment of severe acne (nodular) non-responsive to other therapies.

What is Isotroin 5mg ?

Isotroin 5 mg Capsule belongs to a category of chemical compounds called retinoid. This medication helps in the treatment of cystic acne or nodular acne that has previously not responded to any other kinds of treatment. It lowers the production of facial oil and prevents hardening of the skin. If acne is not properly treated it can cause permanent scarring.

How To Use Isotroin Capsule

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Isotroin 5 and Isotroin 10 Capsule is to be taken with food.

How Isotroin Capsule Works

Isotroin 5 mg Capsule works by preventing the production of sebum from the glands present in the inner layers of skin. It also promotes the growth of healthy skin cells.

• Scaling, burning, redness, and swelling of skin
• Nausea and Vomiting
• Stomach pain
• Diarrhea
• Pain and tenderness of eyes

• Difficult or painful urination

Precaution of Isotroin 5mg Capsule

Do not take isotretinoin, if you are allergic to isotretinoin, vitamin A or any other ingredients of the capsule.

Follow adequate contraceptive measures while on treatment with oral or topical isotretinoin.

Women must use at least two methods of contraception while using isotretinoin to avoid becoming pregnant. Even men receiving isotretinoin must use contraception.

Do not take vitamin A supplements with isotretinoin.

Use sunscreen to protect skin from sunlight and UV rays (like sunlamps or tanning beds) while on isotretinoin treatment.

Do not use waxing for hair removal or do any dermabrasion or lazer skin treatments while on therapy with isotretinoin.

Do get your blood lipid levels, liver function, blood cell count and pregnancy test done before starting isotretinoin.

Do not donate blood till 30 days have passed after last capsule is taken.

Drug interaction of Isotroin 5mg

Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take including prescription and non-prescription, herbal supplements.

Especially tell your doctor if you are taking:-

• Vitamin A supplements
• Tetracycline antibiotics
• Progestin-only birth control pills
• Phenytoin used to treat fits
• Corticosteroid medicines

General Instructions

Take Isotroin 5 mg Capsule as instructed by the doctor. Follow all the directions mentioned on the label. Do not take in larger or smaller quantities than prescribed. This medicine should be taken with food. The symptoms might get worse in the initial phase of treatment.

Warnings for special population

Pregnancy – Use of this medicine by women are pregnant or suspecting a pregnancy is not recommended. It is advised to take extra precautionary measures and avoid intended/unintended pregnancy while using this medicine.

Breast-feeding – Use of this medicine by women who are breastfeeding is not recommended. Your doctor may prescribe suitable alternatives after assessing your condition.

Exposure to sun – Use of this medicine can cause adverse reactions of the skin on sun exposure. You should either avoid stepping out at daytime or take appropriate precautionary measures.

Other skin creams – This medicine may interact with other skin care or medicinal products. Consult your doctor before starting the use of other products along with this medicine.

Contraception – Appropriate means of birth control should be adopted while using this medicine. It can cause oral/hormonal contraception failure and hence use of multiple contraception is advised. Contact your doctor immediately if you suspect a pregnancy while using this medicine.

Donation of blood – It is advised to refrain from donating blood for 1 month after stopping the use of this medicine.

Storage of Isotroin 5mg

Store medicines at room temperature, away from heat and direct light. Do not freeze medicines unless required by package insert. Keep medicines away from children and pets.
